Black Dragon Pool in Lijiang

The Black Dragon Pool in Lijiang, Yunnan Province, or 黑龙潭公园 (Heilongtan) in Chinese, is located at the north end of town, under the steep slope of Elephant Hill. The pool is near the old town, with walkways, willows and chestnut trees etc. Four stone lions guard the main entrance. Turning right, the first building is a library. It was brought to the sight in 1982 with the lions and it’s reconstruction and repair were handled by an old Naxi artisan. The second building houses the Dongba Cultural Research Institute where you can learn the history and art about Dongba ethnic group.
