Red Hill in Urumqi
Red Hill is situated by the bank of UrumqiRiver in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China, as the highest spot in the city with thealtitude of 918 meters on the top of the hill. Because of the red, it has namedafter Red Hill in the history. Local agent goes that the hill was part of the dragonthat was conquered by Western Mother Queen who lived on the Heavenly Lake inthe Heavenly Mountain. However, the dragon still wanted to link his body, itwill make disaster if it happened. Therefor a local official Shang’an in Urumqiin 1788 ordered to build a 9-storey tower with the height of 10.5 meters on thetop of the Red Hill to suppress the dragon.
It is a modern park at the city center of Urumqi, but Urumqi River has changed its river route. Travelers can have a birdview on the top the park while travelling to Urumqi, China, on the ancient SilkRoad.
