Nanxi Shan (South Creek Hill)
Towering south of Guilin proper, Nanxi Shan, 南溪山 in Chinese, consists of a pair of peaks forming a screen. Its white and weird shaped stones glisten in the sun after a rain. Hence the spot has been given the poetic name "South Creek Hill Under a New Sun After Rain."The hillside caves are elegant and have zigzag interiors. Age-old wall carvings abound in these caves. They include the Bailong (White Dragon), the Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), the Sizhou, the Longji (Dragon Spine) and the Liuxian (Liu the Immortal) Caves.
