Ming Tomb in Nanjing
Lying at Dulongfu on the southwestern slope of Purple Mountain is the tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty. It was built between 1381-1383. There used to be a red enclosing wall measuring 22. 5kilometers in length, 2.5 kilometers in depth. All the halls and pavilions were destroyed by war, except the BaoCheng, Ming (Bright) Tower, Shengong Shengde Tablet, two pairs of civilian officials and military generals (all four meters tall) and 12 pairs of stone lions,camels, elephants, unicorns and horses.
