Jimei in Xiamen

It is the hometown of the late overseas Chinese leader Chen Jiageng .It is a town of learning-school buildings line the coastline. The 15-tier pagoda-like Nanxun Pavilion combines Chinese and Western architecture. In the center of the Ao Garden which is in the eastern part of the town stands a monument to the liberation of Jimei with an inscription written by Chairman Mao. In the southern extremity is the grave of Mr. Chen Jiageng decorated with a hundred stone carvings in bas-relief.
