Iron Pagoda in Kaifeng
The Iron Pagoda in Kaifeng, was built in 1049in the Huang You reign of the Northern Song Dynasty. It is called the "IronPagoda," because of its covering of brown glazed tiles. It has a staircase inside that leads up to its top. The pagoda is a typical wooden structure in the traditional style. It is entirely faced with glazed tiles and decorated with flying fairies, musicians, unicorns and flowers, and scores of other patterns. The pagoda is described as "drifting in the clouds" for its height and it is one of Kaifeng's eight sights.
