Dsa Nonnenklo(Nunnery in Lhasa)
Dsa Nonnenklo is the only functioning nunnery in Lhasa, but it is very famous and its history can be traced back to 7th century.
From the back of the Chapel in the temple, facing the front, head right and outside, visitors can visit the meditation chamber in a pit at the end, where King Songtsen Gampo is said to have altered the course of the Kyichu River when it looked likely to flood, and it is why the name of the nunnery originated, which means PIT. There is a stature of the King Songtsen Gampo in the pit, and three nuns take turns o look after it every day.
The entrance fee is CNY15.
