Diecai Shan (Hill of Piled Brocade)

Located in north of the central section of Guilin, Diecai Shan, 叠彩山 in Chinese, gained its name because its fault layers look like pieces of piled brocade. Half-way up the hill, there is a cave with an opening at either end. Hence the other name of Diecai Shan is Fengdong Shan (Hill of Draught Producing Cave). The hill, whose third name is Gui Shan (Osmanthus Hill), consists of four peaks--the Yuyue, the Siwang (Overall View), the Xianhe (Crane) and the Mingyue (Bright Moon), the last being the highest (223 meters). Atop Diecai Shan are Diecai Ting (Pavilion of Piled Brocade), Yangzhi Tang (Admiration Hall), Yingfeng Lou (Windward Pavilion and a number of stone from the Tang Dynasty.
