Dazhao Temple and Xiaozhao Temple

There are 11 Zhao temples in Hohhot, among them the Dazhao Temple and the Xiaozhao Temple are the most famous. They were built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and were renovated in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The Dazhao, or Boundlessness Temple is in the old city. The Xiaozhao, or Longevity Temple is a Tibetan-style structure. The main shrine hall is topped with a "Gold Pagoda" and a "Gold Wheel."Its walls are covered with colored paintings of "Samsara towards Heaven"(the turning of the wheel towards Heaven) and "Samsara towards Earth". The 56 columns in it are all clothed with woolen tapestries with designs of dragons
