Silk Road extending from Chang'an, modern Xian, to Roma is the most important route in human history to link west and east from second century B.C to 16th century. The routes shipped religions, plants, cultures, livestocks, art etc. between east and west so that the exchanges propelled the developments of human society,

Along the ancient Silk Road, there are 33 sites in Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan and China that are inscribed as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2014, and 22 of the sites in China.
