Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

When you talk about Mongol, you might think about Mongolia country, actually there are many Mongolian living in China. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in China, bordering to the north with both the Republic of Mongolia and Russia, covers 1.1 million square kilometers with a population of about 24 million. Hohhot is the capital of Inner Mongolia, and Baotou is the biggest city of the province. It is located on the north of the Silk Road in China, and it is not that popular to for foreign visitors when they travel to China.
Due to its long area from East to West, climate in Inner Mongolia is very different during the year. Usually summer is short and warm, winter is cold and long. The annual rainfall is 80 - 450 millimeters, also increasing from west to east. Temperature drops quickly from day to night evern in summer. The travelers is highly recommended to prepare warm clothing in summer while traveling to China.
Inner Mongolia attracts tourists to China with its amazing natural scenery and brilliant culture. There are many historic and natural sites in Inner Mogolia including Wudangzhao Monastery in Baotou, Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, Dazhao Temple in Hohhot, Xilituzhao Palace, Zhaojun Tomb, Wanbu Huayanjin Pagoda(White Pagoda), Xilamuren Grassland, Gegentala Grassland and Huitengxile.
The traditional yurts spread out on the grassland as the home the nomad Mongolians, and Nadam is a wonderful festival to visit here in summer.
There are not grassland here but also deserts on the west including Badain Jaran Desert, Tengger Desert and Kubuqi Desert.
It is the best time to visit the multi-leaved poplar in Ejina Qi in early October, where you will see all leaves of the poplar changed to red and yellow, look like butterfly flying in the open air. Hence there are hundred of photographers going there in Autumn to take incredible shots.
