Aksu

Aksu is a city located on the west of Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang China. With a population of 500,000 (2015), Aksu was Wensu State in the history. The name of Aksu is from Uyghur language, which means the White River City because of the Aksu River through the city.
Aksu is near the start of the second Taklimakan Desert Highway, the travelers can drive from Aksu to Hotian for about 8 hours on the 660 km highway.
There is Tuomur Summit which is the highest peak of Tianshan Mountains with a altitude of 7443.8m, travelers can visit this area since 1985.
Another site is Shenmu Garden near Aksu, there are all sorts of strange woods growing up around the well-known Mazaar.
