Huaisheng Mosque

Huaisheng, meaning of Remember-the Prophet, Mosque and Guang Minaret(meaning of Smooth) in Guangzhou, was built in 627 AD (during the Tang Dynasty, 618-907 AD), when the Arab Sad Ibn Abu Waggas came to China to spread the Islam religion. This mosque is one of the earliest in the country. It is dedicated to the memory of Mohammed the Prophet. Its Guang Minaret is 36. 3 meters high and has around body. The word "Guang"(Smooth), in its name owes its origin to the smooth outer appearance of the structure.
