Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples, Chengde
In 1994, Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples, Chengde was inscribed on the list of World Heritage by UNESCO.
Located in the city of Chengde, Hebei province of China, The Mountain Resort is China’s largest imperial garden, which had been constructed from 1703—1790, nearly 90 years, in Qing Dynasty. Beijing is always hot in Summer, The Mountain Resort was often used by emperors as second capital after Forbidden City during Summer time.
The Resort is a large architectural complex composed of many buildings, royal gardens, and surrounding lakes etc, which are combined harmoniously. The emperors enjoyed to spend their summer time here to handle political affairs. It was also used to hold ceremonies.
